Patriot Viper V570 Gaming Mouse Review

SOFTWARE

To get the most out of the V570 though you’re going to have to download Patriot’s software to fine tune it to your specific needs.

Installing the software the main page is your buttons screen, shown below

Displaying a gorgeous view of the mouse itself, you can already see that this software is based on user friendliness and ease of use. There are only two buttons on the mouse which are not customizable, the “left click” as well as the “Profile” button which is labeled “9” and is the button just below the scroll wheel. Leaving you with 13 completely customizable buttons.

As you can see, there are five profiles to customize from as well as four tabs at the top to allow you customize the V570 to your liking. When customizing your buttons you simply click on the attached function box and it’ll open a plethora of options available to you. Mouse and keyboard functions can be programmed which are fairly straight forward. You want the right-click button to scroll or act as the letter “Q” feel free to do so. Some of the advanced functions you can choose from are what we have displayed above. Launching the driver menu is an easy way to open this software and we have programmed that as our “7” key and already comes in handy while writing this review. This is also where you will be able to customize your “sniper” button which will drop your DPI to a personally selected DPI, adjustable individual axis’.  It is pre-programmed as the “8” button and works great there but is not limited to this spot.Macro’s are always a hot topic when it comes to gaming peripherals and the V570 doesn’t fall short on that. With a very detailed logging ability as well as the ability to import and export macro’s, switching over from your old mouse won’t be a tedious process of re-logging and programming macro’s.Key cycling is also an option on the V570 which is intuitive and gives you that little edge, as unfair as it may be. Allowing you to use the same button in sequence to click multiple key/mouse presses, it’s sure to drop you to the prone and fire off a few rounds before anyone has a chance to get you.

Within the button manipulation you’ll see DPI Loop attached to button “10”. This is a default setting and can not be allocated to any other button. It will cycle through four adjusted DPI settings located in the Sensor tab at the top.Keep in mind that the sensor settings are set for all five profiles and DPI settings can’t be changed between them. So set them accordingly as the profiles only allow you to change the button configurations while the four DPI settings will stay constant. This may be a learning point as users would hope to expect they could have different DPI settings for each profile.

RGB. The term so commonly associated with all things peripheral these days is of course one of the most aesthetic compliments to this mouse. The four sectioned trim RGB spine running beneath your thumb really gives the mouse some colour and pop with its fading colour change. The software to alter the mouse to your preference is also just as easy to use as the rest of the program. When you first enter the light effect menu by clicking the RGB colour wheel at the top right you’ll be opened to the page above. Giving you the option of the five noted above, only one, customize, is adjustable. While we have a few things to say about that don’t be set back we are sure you will appreciate the colour schematics that are supported regardless. From the customize setting you are unlimited in colour but very limited in effect. Unable to choose from anything other than Breathe or Always ON, you lose out on some of the other effects you may be used to, such as blinking or adjusting your own specific colour wave. Also, the duration of the breathing effect is not adjustable. For such amazing and easy to use software as we are working with here we feel a little more customizing on the lighting effects would have been an added bonus. As you will notice from the photo above the RGB is very bright. Light intensity is also not adjustable with the V570.
