X-Mini 1.1 Capsule Speaker Review – Big Things Come In Small Packages

INTERIOR COMPONENTS AND CONCLUSION

The micro-USB port connects via a long skinny split 3.5mm/USB cable. The X-Mini connects to most USB ports and requires 5V to charge. Of course a PC/notebook is preferred. I have even charged this on my ASUS TF700T Tablet Mobile Dock. As expected, the 3.5mm connects to anything with the same sized jack.

The X-Mini has a decent rechargeable 220mAh battery that says it lasts up to six hours. I ‘ve had these for half a year and I still get the six hours promised, and they can last longer if you don ‘t need to have them on full volume. The newer models have much longer play times of up to 12 hours.

Next is the bulky on/off switch. It doesn’t fit with the smooth round design, but for something this small, a switch that sticks out and is easy to turn off and on wins over an inaccessible switch. The volume slider is exactly that and it works well. I’ve used a very cheap set of capsule speakers before that had no volume slider and I ‘m very thankful that you can set the volume before scaring yourself silly.

Seen here is by far my favorite feature. The audio jack lets you connect via€œdaisy chain € in theory to as many other kinds of X-Mini capsule speakers as you wish, creating almost believable stereo sound. The more connected, the more brilliant the effect becomes. One X-Mini is impressive by itself pumping out 89db from its 36mm driver; I can only imagine how 20 would resonate together!

On the bottom you have the battery indicator light which is pretty simple. Red means charging. Bright blue means fully charged and the blue light gets dimmer as the battery loses its charge.

Last but not least of course is the little buddy cable. It can either plug directly into your device of choice or daisy chain to another X-Mini capsule speaker as mentioned above.

The X-Mini ‘s sound quality is a very rich clear audio experience. It ‘s incredible what you can get out of something so tiny. They are not the best speakers in the world by any means and there are a lot of capsule and mobile speakers on the market worth trying out. For their size they produce clear warmer tones than any built in speaker I ‘ve have heard in a huge range of devices including the majority of Notebooks. They are also the perfect solution if you have a device with proprietary connectors that may not have any audio accessories/audio docks to connect with. There is really nothing bad to say about these little guys. Perhaps once you start buying them and linking them together you won ‘t want to stop. They prove the old adage correct:€œbig things come in small packages €.
