The HS70 has been an anticipated review for us since the HS60 review we posted a while back. Looking forward to jumping off the cord and seeing what this wireless beauty can do to improve your gaming experience.
Packaging and Contents
Corsair has kept a fairly familiar packaging for the HS70 as you will see with many of their past peripherals. This doesn’t come as a surprise to us as it sticks with you and their undisputed reputation for quality products is easy to spot on retail shelves. With an eye-catching glance of the box you will see the beauty that is the HS70. With a sharp white on black look the professional look of this device is undeniable. Plush memory foam ear pads, low-latency 2.4GHz wireless audio and 50mm drivers there is much to get excited about with the HS70 before you even take it off the shelf. The back of the HS70 is where they are going to catch you. A quick read explains a few more of the features. Sensitivity dipping over 110dB, epic 7.1 Surround Sound, great comfort features and Discord certification are just a few of the details you’ll read on your way to the check out counter.
Included with the HS70 are a detachable microphone, micro-USB charging cable, the USB receiver.Design & Comfort
The headset itself has a beautiful design, Corsair branded across the top of the head-cushion and white cross-stitching on the underside add extra flavour to an already outstanding amount of aesthetics. At a first feel the cups on the headset feel slightly large but aren’t uncomfortable at all. Touching a little lower than we believe we have felt from their headsets before. With that out-of-the-way a quick shake test doesn’t have this headset moving at all and the memory foam cups quickly mold to your brain-bucket.Extending roughly 8 cm on each side allow the HS70 to fit even those with a little bit more skull than the rest of us, this is also where the larger feel may open the HS70 to a wider variety of gamer.
On the left side of the headset you’ll find the micro-USB charging port, LED, volume toggle wheel and the mute button. The microphone silence button is fairly small and sunk into the bottom of the left ear cup. The power button is located on the bottom of the right ear cup and with a hold will power on/off.Specifications and Features
Setting up the HS70 is fairly straight forward, plug-in the USB dongle, and by the time you hold the power button on the headset it’s ready to use. It doesn’t get much more user-friendly than that. With a 12m (40′) range claimed and confirmed you can even use this headset just to listen to some tunes around the house. Follow that up with 16 hours of use on a single charge, the numbers really speak for themselves.
Microphone clarity is everything you’d expect it to be, world-wide clarity will keep your teammates by your side regardless of location.
The 7.1 surround is great and gives you the jump on the enemy when they think they may have a quick melee kill from the rear. The 7.1 feature is only available on PC. The dongle is not required for PS4 use as it’s built-in with the console. The sound quality of the HS70 is right where you’d expect a headset from Corsair to be and the 50mm drivers pound out a beautiful sound and you are sure to catch every instrument or footstep whether you’re gaming or just jamming out.
Final Thoughts and Analysis
We can’t really hold a negative statement to the HS70, Corsair has given us everything we could have asked for in a checked out headset. Comfort, Style, Performance. The price sits at $91.99 on Amazon at the time of this review.
