The Zalman VE350 is a great tool for allowing you to back up your precise files, or for serving as a resource when repairing your fleet of enterprise PC’s. The price is very hard to beat, at less than $50 (with the exception of the fact that you will need to buy a SSD or HDD) you really can’t go wrong.
In fact, this enclosures serves to take other enclosures out of commission, strictly on the fact that it has so much more capabilities than the average enclosure. Frankly for $50, you could set yourself up with a drive that has multiple partitions, each with a different function. This is also completed with that extra HDD, or better yet, that SSD you had laying around. Our recommendation to Zalman is to provide a drive option with this purchase, give consumers a chance to see a SSD paired with the enclosure for a minimal cost and capacity.
Our opinion of the accompanying software is that it is intuitive and easy to use. Every aspect of the software is quick to navigate through and most sections are easily labelled for quick selection. It does have the appearance of a Windows 98 installation window, so the only recommendation we would have is possibly to upgrade the GUI to a more modern appearances or provide different skins.
We are impressed with the Zalman VE350, we have not seen a better option for using that old HDD or SSD that you have kicking around! For this reason, we are awarding the VE350 for the best HDD enclosure we have seen to date with our Editor’s Choice Award!
