LSI Demonstrates Efficient 28G SerDes Transceiver At OFC/NFOEC 2013

LSI Corporation today announced its first live demonstration of a 28G SerDes transceiver at the 2013 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition and National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC). The 28G SerDes solution is a serial NRZ transceiver designed for both long- and sort-reach applications and is designed to reduce networking costs by using Ethernet over copper backplanes and optical fibers.

LSI will showcase its 28G SerDes solution within the Ethernet Alliance booth along with other participating organizations focused on interoperability. The 28G SerDes transceiver covers serial rates in the range of 1.25-28.05Gb/s. It enables Ethernet 802.3bj 4x25G and 32GFC deployment over copper backplane and cables medium with its powerful yet efficient equalization technology. It also supports chip-to-optical module applications and the Ethernet 802.3ba standard.

The Ethernet Alliance’s live demo of optical 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interoperability, which includes LSI 28G SerDes technology, can be viewed at booth 2909.
