Zepp 2 Released – The Personalized Coaching System

Zepp has created a multi-sport sensor that can provide any athlete with real-time analytics. The personalized smart coach system can currently be used for baseball/softball and golf. It is great for athletes with any level of experience, from beginner to professional, each receiving expert data allowing them to make specific improvements.

Zepp 2 collects data using the Zepp Baseball-Softball 2 sensor, which attaches to the handle of a bat with the provided mount. The sensor collects information about bat speed, hand speed, attack angle, time-to-impact, and bat angle. Golfers use the Zepp Golf 2 sensor, which can be attached to the golf glove. It captures club speed, club plane, hand plane, backswing position, tempo, and hip rotation. Each swing can be instantly reviewed in 3D from any angle allowing the athlete to immediately correct their swing.

Using the Zepp 2 to improve your technique is as easy as taking a few swings and letting the smart coach do the rest of the work. Based off of those swings the athlete will be given areas to improve and a personalized training program. The training programs have been designed by some of the greatest coaches in the sport. Mike Trout, Jennie Finch, John Mallee, and Tim Walton will provide feedback and training for baseball and softball players, and Michelle Wei, Keegan Bradley, Rick Smith and Pat Shea will do the same for golfers.

After the athlete has taken a few swings Zepp 2 will analyze thousand of data points in order to determine what aspect of their swing needs to be improved. At the end of an appropriate training program the athlete can take another evaluation to determine where else they may improve.

In addition to providing feedback to improve the athlete’s swing, Zepp 2 also suggests fitness-training plans to help increase flexibility and core strength in order to create a well-rounded athlete. Another bonus of Zepp 2 is that all the training programs are available to its app users, even if they do not own a sensor. Users have the option of sharing progress, photos, and custom captions across a variety of social media channels, as well as joining the Zepp 2 community to view other users data.

Coaches can also use Zepp 2 to manage their players, track their improvement, and show them their swing in a new way. Baseball and softball coaches can go one step further and use the “Track Your Season” feature that can be used by the individual player and/or coach to track their progression.

The sensor itself is circular in shape to drive the future of sports, allowing the sensor to be embedded into sporting equipment for baseball, softball, golf, and a variety of other sports. It’s battery can last up to eight hours and it houses two accelerometers, two gyroscopes, and Bluetooth LE in ensure the athlete receives accurate data.

Zepp 2 is available for baseball/softball and golf for $149.99 at Zepp.com. It includes the sensor, sport specific mount and magnetic charger. Additional mounts are available for purchase separately. The Zepp 2 app and sensors are compatible with both iOS and Android.
