Sennheiser U320 Multi-Platform Gaming Headset Review

COMFORT AND USE

The Sennheiser U320’s Circleflex System allows the ear cups to rotate around their base. This an engineering feat that goes well beyond that of most studio headphones which usually rock back and forth in only two planes (I.e., side-to-side, and up-to-down).

We have to commend Sennheiser on their attention to detail in respect to comfort. After a few hours of continuous game play, we noted the headphones were still as comfortable as when gameplay originally began.

To use the Sennheiser U320 with a PC and Mac is extremely easy, and painless. Set-up really is as painless as plug and play. If you are looking for audio output through the headphones, than unfortunately the set-up was not quite as easy as with a XBOX 360 or PS3. To connect the headset for audio, you have to plug in the two (I.e., left and right) RCA audio cables into your TV’s audio output, or your receiver’s audio output. We found this to be quite an inconvenience if you are looking for audio through the headset, as set-up now takes much longer and could be quite a pain if you have an elaborate TV stand or cable management system.

On the other hand, we tested the headset using the microphone by itself, while utilizing a HD Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound system for audio output. Gameplay chat and audio worked seamlessly and set-up was painless, as all that was required was to insert the USB cable into the system, and the microphone cable into the XBOX 360 controller.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Sennheiser U320 is one of the best gaming headsets seen yet! From being well designed with use of high-quality materials, to the in-genius pivoting ear cups, the Sennheiser U320 will definitely be a staple in your gaming arsenal.
