Brand new to the market of gaming keyboards, HyperX has provided us with a crisp new product. Their HyperX Alloy Fps gaming keyboard provides the consumer with a minimalistic design suited more toward the First Person Shooter (FPS) genre of gamer. With every company releasing new peripherals, we are excited to see if a first time product can compete with the powerhouses like Razer and Logitech.
PACKAGING AND CONTENTSHyperX has ensured you’re able to keep your board safe even through transport by including a padded carrying case. It is apparent that HyperX took care when packaging this product. The keyboard is enclosed in a foam fort which prevented anything from getting damaged or warped. One thing that is immediately apparent when you take the Alloy FPS out of its packaging is how strong and sturdy the solid steel frame feels.
The HyperX Alloy FPS is compact enough that it comes with a carrying case to keep the keyboard out of the elements and prevent any unnecessary spoilage. The non-logo side of the carrying case provides a small pouch to hold the detachable 1.8m braided USB cable.
One of our favorite parts of the HyperX Alloy FPS are the textured replacement keys for the WASD switches, or more commonly known in the first person shooter community as the movement keys. The key removal tool is included to grant easy transfer of keys as well as non textured 1-4 switches.
HyperX has decided to team up with Cherry, who is well known for their well made mechanical keyboards. The HyperX Alloy FPS is installed with the Cherry Blue tactile key switch. These Keys give you a satisfying click when pressed. Unfortunately the keys cannot be modified with any other type of Cherry switch, which is one thing we would like to see from HyperX on their next addition to the keyboard gaming community.
Being only a 104 key standard keyboard, its hard to fit everything a gamer needs in such a small package. HyperX’s simplistic look and compact design is made specifically for people who travel to tournaments or are looking to save some space on their desk.
The only thing that pops out of the frame of the HyperX Alloy FPS are the self cleaning gold contact keys that are resistant to dirt and dust. This makes cleaning the keyboard a breeze due to the fact that there are no small crevices or impossible to get to spots.
