Pittasoft is a Korean based company that focuses on video camera technology, more specifically, dashboard based video cameras. Here at Technology X we have the pleasure of taking a look at the Blackvue Sport SC500 action camera. It is important to note that the Blackvue Sport has not been released at the time of this review, so any findings could, and may, have changed.
Action camera’s are becoming more and more popular, and as technology keeps advancing, our ever increasing desire to capture our unique moments has become easier. Pittasoft has placed an emphasis on capturing “unforgettable” and “magical” moments, and being able to share those with your friends and family. The Blackvue Sport can be used for more than just jumping out of airplanes and skydiving of course, but for recording your family vacation in way that may have seemed impossible before.
BLACKVUE SC500 DESIGN
First glance of the packaging exterior reveals the camera protected by a piece of clear plastic. As you slide off the exterior sleeve, the contents are revealed.
The camera is accompanied by the LCD screen, a USB-to-Micro USB charging cable, and the 1050 mAh Li-Polymer battery.
The Blackvue Sport also comes with a frame mount, as well as a square and round mount connecting link with 3M tape. These accessories allow you to mount the Blackvue Sport to a solid surface with the square mount connecting link, or it can be mounted to a typical tripod stand with the round mount link. The Blackvue Sport is supposed to come with the waterproof housing, but it was not included in the model we received.
The Blackvue Sport is quite small, as it is only 44mm tall, 55mm wide and 38mm long. The construction of the unit is high quality plastic, which is physically obvious upon first handling the Blackvue Sport. It has three shooting modes: Video, High Speed and Photo. Each mode can be easily navigated to and initiated quickly to capture that unique moment.
On the front of the Blackvue Sport, there are five LED lights. Each light will indicate the specific shooting mode, whether WiFi is enabled, and the current status of the unit. The top of the Blackvue Sport is the Shutter/Select button, speaker and another LED, which again indicates the status of the camera. The shutter button is also used as a selection button in the settings menu.
The camera lens does come with a rubber lens cap to supply the lens with very basic protection. Unfortunately, the lens cap is not a perfect fit to the lens and falls off quite easily.
