Overkill Software and publisher 505 Studios have been hard at work getting Payday 2 ready for its Steam debut, and we got the chance to play the demo copy featuring the first map. Much like in Payday: The Heist’s first map, Payday 2 follows suit with an equally simple intro level to help new players get started.
The first heist in Payday 2 has the same formula as First World Bank – attach the drill to the bank vault, protect it and prevent it from jamming, survive against the police onslaught, and escape with the money. The special units are still around, especially ‘The Tazer’ (which come in drones), but this time around have more tricks and ways to outsmart players.
Couple them with beefier S.W.A.T. units and a lower character health pool, Payday 2 is looking like a sleeker, tighter, and harder successor to Payday: The Heist.
