DriveSavers Data Recovery – Storage Visions 2014

Technology X is out on location here in Las Vegas, Nevada for coverage of Storage Visions 2014. Storage Visions is a storage-specific conference that gives us an insight on the newest and latest in the storage industry, displaying everything from new improvements for performance and efficiency, to lower costs of storage and cloud storage. It’s all here at Storage Visions 2014, with companies like Samsung, SanDisk, and Diablo Technologies. Let’s get started!

We met up with DriveSavers who solely focuses on Data Recovery for your broken devices and drives. With all the talk of storage, the recovery of your data, if something were to happen to your iPad or SSD, is just as equally important.

We spoke with John Christopher, the Senior Manager of Marketing Communications at DriveSavers, and he emphasized how DriveSavers takes a stand on providing excellent customer service, which is especially important during a time of a catastrophe. DriveSavers will work with you every step of the way to ensure the process is as painless as possible.

To briefly explain the process of the DriveSavers data recovery process, after you have spoken with a representative at DriveSavers, you send the device or drive to DataSavers where they will then provide you with a free estimate for the data recovery. From this point forward, DriveSavers will be in constant contact with you all the way to end, when you receive your data back. DataSavers uses a variety of data recovery processes, dependent upon each situation, to recover your data. An example provided to us was that DriveSavers will remove the NAND memory chip from the PCB in a device, and place it in a new environment for safer recovery.

Cost of such data recovery will depend on the severity and scenario of the damage to the drive. Criteria such as the duration of time that you wish to receive your drive/device back, how damaged the drive/device is and of course the amount of data that needs to be recovered.

Upon discussing the severity of data recovery, John explained a case scenario where Mat Honen, of WIRED Magazine, had his MacBook Air hacked and the hackers began remotely wiping his data. DriveSavers came to the rescue and helped Mat recover his precious pictures of his child’s first year.

DriveSavers Data Recovery can recover data from almost any type of device or drive:

  • iOS Devices (I.e., iPhone and iPad)
  • Mac
  • Windows
  • SSD
  • RAID/NAS/SAN
  • Removable Media (E.g., SD Cards)

Western Data Recovery also offers these services. We utilized them for a malicious attempt of removal by an ex-employee. http://www.westerndatarecovery.com
