It is important to note that no device is available to accurately tell you whether or not you should drive after drinking. The BACtrack Mobile smartphone bluetooth breathalyzer is a very simple device, which isn’t hidden by its packaging. The front of the packaging features a clear plastic window that let’s you see pretty much exactly what you are buying.
The backside of the packaging, goes a step further, it tells you how you can test, track and learn about your drinking habits.
According to the side of the box, when we open up the packaging we will find the BACtrack mobile smartphone breathalyzer, three mouthpieces, a carrying pouch, a Micro-USB charger and the user guide.
The BACtrack device is approximately the width of a credit card, but just a little shorter and a depth of about a centimetre. The top of the breathalyzer has the mouthpiece at the front, and an air ‘exit way’ on the backside. In the image below you can see some of the internal components of this bluetooth breathalyzer, this includes a Xtend Fuel Cell Sensor Technology, which was originally designed for military use to determine the alcohol mixture required for particular hybrid fuel assault vehicles. The device also features an internal air pump that ensures the air is equally passed across the sensor. Additionally, this feature allows the sensor to focus on air from deep within the lungs, closer to where the air in your lungs meets the blood stream.
