PACKAGING & DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
Being full-sized headphones the Patriot Viper V360 Gaming Headset is packaged in a large yet gorgeous box rocking dark red overtones and a front window showing off the headphones located inside.
The back displays lots of technical info making sure the customer is well informed with the purchase they are about to make.
Pulling out the headset reveals the headphone’s beautiful fabric USB cord that matches the rest of the design perfectly. It is very durable and nearly 100% twist proof which is a great feature to completely avoid those frustrating untangling issues. For the finish the v360 is coated in a soft durable plastic virtually eliminating the danger of fingerprints and scuffs.
Also located in the box is an attractive black carrying bag sporting the Viper logo and two red drawstrings.
Lastly there is a red envelope located within that carries 2 Viper logo stickers, a quick start guide, and a little advertisement card showing off some other Viper Gaming products. Oddly enough, with all the info the box already displays it is missing one key feature, system requirements. It’s not until you look at the quick start guide does it tell you what OS supports your headphones:
- PC or Mac with USB Port
- Windows® 10 / Windows® 8 / 8.1
- Windows® 7 / Windows® Vista
- Windows® XP
- 150MB of free hard disk space
The headphones easily adjust to any size head with an auto-adjusting head strap found on the top. No need to fiddle with the size before throwing them on your head, just go ahead and they’ll adjust for you. As for the part of the headphones that actually cup the ear they have a nice comfortable cushion pad that fits nicely around the whole ear.
The microphone folds away so perfectly into the left speaker that I initially didn’t know where it was. The design of the microphone is fantastic for aesthetic appeal but unfortunately the rigidity of the plastic prevents any play of the arm keeping the microphone a locked set distance from the user’s mouth. Sure it can be moved up or down as it folds and locks into the headset but it can’t move left or right / closer or further away from the user’s mouth. This can cause issues if the user doesn’t normally speak loud or soft enough for the location of the mic resulting in need to tweak some settings.
Finally, the red control toggles are located on the rear of the left headphone and are easily enough adjusted with the thumb. No need for a clunky on the wire toggle switch.
