Runtastic Orbit Review – Your 24/7 Activity Tracker!

2015 is well on its way and for some so are their resolutions for the new year. The hardest part of keeping a New Years ‘fitness’ resolution can be keeping tabs on your fitness goals. While its imprtant to keep track of caloric intake, it’s also improtant to track your caloric expenditure, or how many calories you are burning.

Sure, going to the gym and monitoring your diet both contribute to a healthy solution for getting into shape, but sometimes the easiest method of burning calories can be missed … walking! Caloric monitoring apps like MyFitnessPal, help by monitoring the aforementioned, but how accurate is a smartphone at monitoring your steps throughout the day, or even while you run? What happens if you forget your iPhone back at the office and have to go back to get it, all the monitoring for those steps are lost! Runtastic, the popular app company that is known to help motiviate you through your runs and workouts introduced the Runtastic Orbit, an easy and almost inconspicious method of monitoring your fitness 24/7! Whether it’s how many steps you take per day, tracking your happy moments or how well you slept the night before, the Orbit can help you!

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

The packaging of the Runtastic Orbit is informative from each angle. The front of the packaging provides you with an insight into exactly what you are buying, the Orbit, with its two wrist bands and the belt clip.

Runtastic Orbit-3

The back of the packaging breaks down the specifics of the Orbits features including where it can be worn and what it can track. The Orbit has the potential to be worn on your wrist, belt, pant pocket or shirt collar.

Runtastic Orbit-2

The Orbit is listed to be able to track steps, distance, sleep duration, calories burned, happiness, as well as set goals. You can also use it for time and an alarm, with vibrating alerts to let you know when you have reached your goals for the day. The Orbit is also listed to be water resistant to 300 feet or 100 meters, perfect for monitoring your swims as well as your runs!

Runtastic Orbit-5

Inside the packaging you will find the Runtastic Orbit, the two wrist bands (one black and one blue), a black belt clip as well as the magnetic charging cable, and instructions. The Orbit can be paired up with different coloured wristbands, including Sunshine Yellow, Ordinary Orange, Powerful Pink, Army Green, Steel Gray, Crystal White, Neon Rose, Luscious Lemon and Peacock Green – to name a few. We found the above magnetic cable to be not as strong, magnetically, as we would have liked to have seen. We found that the when charging the Orbit – outside of any wristband or belt clip – it was ready to fall off of the magnetic charger.

Runtastic Orbit-8

On the front of the Orbit there is a small OLED display used for, as you can guess, displaying the collected information. The device itself features an integrated ambient light sensor, which is a small sensor found just above the display. This sensor is used for advanced sleep tracking. Just below the display you will find the small button used for activating different displays.

Runtastic Orbit-7

On the backside of the Orbit there is a small connection found near the bottom that magnetically attaches to the blue USB charging cable.

Runtastic Orbit-6

The Orbit features Bluetooth smart technology which allows it to pair to smartphone and further allows you to monitor your data in a more convenient manner. You can also double click the silver button to log your happy moments. This can allow you to see what makes you happy throughout the day and can help your strive for happier days.
