Seasonic Platinum SS-1200XP3 1200W PSU Unboxing & Overview

Whether you’re a PC enthusiast, gamer or a seasoned overclocker, at some point you would have come across the PSU brand Seasonic. You may have also read that previous versions of Corsair PSU’s have used Seasonic as their OEM, thus they have a good reputation in the PC component market as well as with other PSU manufacturers. Today, we will focus on one particular model of Seasonic’s flagship PSUs, the SS-1200XP3 1200W Platinum.

For high-end multi-GPU gaming systems or even power hungry homemade storage servers the Seasonic 1200W Platinum might just be the solution for you. This particular model is widely used by top overclockers on power hungry CPU and single GPU LN2 benching with some overclockers using up to three such PSU’s for LN2 Quad-SLI or CrossFireX GPU benching. Like all quality PSU’s, the back of the box is where most of the details about the model are shown with the exception of the specifications of the voltage rails which are on the side view above. We will talk about these specifications as well as the certifications later on in the features section.

At first glance after removing the inner box you can see the PSU is well packed and insulated by a nice thick two piece foam lining. There is a double sided bag for storage of the cables which both you would expect to see in a high end PSU. Included are the usual manual and manufacturers information.

We found that the PSU comes in a velvet bag and the cables plus accessories are packaged in plastic bags.
