Now, we know everyone is curious about the DIY cooling kit but we also do not want to overshadow how amazing this case is. As you can see we removed the 3.5″ drive bay collumn as well as the OD Bays in the top and the fan rack for the bottom compartment. Overall the install was great with no issues with the main components. As with the F31 review we mentioned the grommets when using a ATX board are half cut off and can be tricky to feed SSD Data cords through unless you’re using a right angled clip. We set up the PSU in the bottom and included with the accessories are rubber supports. Core X71Placed under the PSU relieves some pressure on the chassis when it’s attached. The Two PNY SSD’s are put in place just to show use of the drive trays. Thermaltake hooked us up with some orange and black TTMOD sleeve cable extensions to give our colour scheme some pop.ttmod sleevesThis combo pack comes with a 24 pin ATX extension cable, a 4+4 pin EPS extension, two of both 8-pin & 4-pinPCI-e extensions along with cable combs to keep your rig looking nice and tight. Remember though these are simply extensions and aren’t to be connected directly to your PSU as the majority of cords wont reach your components directly from the PSU. The Riing fans are amazing and give a nice glow to the front of the unit.Along with the Lumi Color 256C LED controller the glow inside the chassis was beautiful.

That LED controller pack added three magnetic LED strips and the controller as you see we stuck on the side with our SSD’s. This pack allows you to choose a single color of your choice, cycle through or flash. We preferred the cycle to see all the different colours. The addition of the bottom compartment is amazing as it allows for all your cable mess to be out of the way and clear of the eyes when the chassis is closed up. It’s also great how they have the top and bottom panels individually removable allowing you to isolate the area you are working on easier. the sideways PSU also allows air directly into the PSU if you add a radiator in the bottom compartment. This area also allows for up to a 360 on the non-PSU side and 280 on the PSU side. All in all there is room for everything in this case and then some room left over without any issues. Small adjustments we’d like to say are just repeats from the F31 review and are minor at best. Such as the grommet placement when ATX boards are in use could just shift over a bit.Core X71

Your build our core - that’s the motto for Thermaltake’s Core series that brings us to the realm of modular chassis’. The X71 specifically is what we are looking at with this review, along with a calming description of DIY loop cooling systems. PRE-BUILD OVERVIEW Thermaltake has been kind enough to provide us with the Core X71 along with all the necessities for our first DIY loop cooling system.
