Thermaltake Core X71 Chassis Review with Pacific DIY Cooling Installation!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Yes the system works great and looks great but we did have some hiccups along the way that hopefully reading this will help you ahead of time:

  1. We didn’t use any angled or splitter connectors. Now with our system you may think why would we need splitters? For draining the system we advise having a Y-junction. This way when you do drain you have don’t quite as hard a time as we did. If we had used a junction with a closed off end it would have worked just like a tap emptying. Instead we used a funnel and the bottom of the radiator. Angled adapters will help you as well if you plan on getting more creative with your build and having more intricate designs. Given we only had a 16″ silicone insert it limits the length of tube we can use between components. If you had angled connectors you could have shorter lengths with more design and use the angled connectors to not only bend angles but act as a medium between two other lengthy travels of tube.
  2. Don’t rush your bends. We wasted some tubing because we didn’t warm it up enough at first or didn’t warm up a large enough area. You will learn quickly to take your time especially if you have limited amount of tubing. V-tubular 4 pack comes with 4m, but you can go through that pretty quick if you aren’t cautious.
  3. Make sure you use the tube bending kit. The delivery of our bending kit was a little after remainder of the components so we decided to give bending a shot without it. Don’t do that, you’re just going to waste tubing and wont be able to keep the tube in the proper shape to avoid bubbling, bottlenecking or kinking.
  4. Also, if you just think tube bending may be too difficult for you, you can always purchase angled adapters and just keep the pipes straight and use the adapters as your bends!

FINAL THOUGHTS AND ANALYSIS

Everything about this review made us happy, some small hiccups or troubleshooting but that is all part of the game and what we were hoping to save you from as far as the hard tube bending and installation is concerned. Thermaltake has thoroughly impressed us  once again. The Core X71 chassis for a $149.99 on amazon is a fairly higher price for an ATX chassis but it also is a larger chassis and allows you to really get into custom building and for a few extra bucks, is well worth it. The X71 offers an abundance of space for anything you would want to put in it. With the addition of our Pacific cooling system & Lumi Colour LED kit we couldn’t be happier with the ease of assembly for such a complex looking system. One thing we would like to see is the extension cords for the LED strips a little longer to allow a deeper reach into the system as it restricts placement how short they are.

Hopefully you are walking away from this with a new look and curiosity to building your own Pacific cooling system in your next build. Don’t worry about what pieces you need either as Thermaltake has prepackaged sets with everything you need included, this could only get easier if we came and built it for you! Hands down today’s products are walking away with the the Editors choice award!
