If you remember a little while back in June of this year, Blackberry put the gears to Typo as they settled their dispute of IP infringement. Essentially, this prevents Typo from making any more smartphone keyboards. While the full terms of the settlement were not released, we do know that Typo must “permanently discontinue selling anywhere in the world keyboards for smartphones and mobile devices with a screen size of less than 7.9 inches.” Enter the Typo for iPad Air and Mini!
The Typo for iPad Air is their first attempt at creating a keyboard for a larger device, this full size bluetooth keyboard is a gorgeous accessory, and a compliment to your iPad.
The exterior of the packaging features a white enclosure that snaps closed. The front of the packaging is a brief look at the prize the lies inside. The backside of the packaging gives us a few details as to what we can expect with the Typo Keyboard.
Once we open the packaging, the case and keyboard combo is revealed. The outer surface of the case is made of a hard, dark grey plastic. This doesn’t feel to be the same plastic you would have on any other case, it actually feels much more sturdy and rigid.
The stand attached to the back of the case is metal, and a solid component as well. It features rubber footings on the bottom to prevent the case from moving while in use. The stand also allows for your iPad to be perfectly angled at nearly any degree for viewing.
When we look at the keyboard, that’s where the impression really begins. From the full sized keys, to the soft touch and feel, this keyboard is really impressive. Even better yet, the keyboard is detachable from the case, letting you use however you like! On the backside of the case you will find that your camera and volume ports are easily accessible.
