A LOOK INSIDE
Taking a look inside, we’ll first see that the fan for this unit is made by Yate Loon, this is not unexpected, however we’ve had some wonderful experiences with DeepCool’s own brand of fans, and wish they’d had the idea to include one in their own PSU.
Getting a look at the unit itself, we’ll find that it is manufactured by CWT, and based on their PUO platform, which is the very same platform as Thermaltake’s XT line. Solid stuff.
We’ll also find high-quality Japanese capacitors made by Nippon Chemi-Con.
Overall the build quality seems pretty solid with no major issues we can point out. That being said, there’s nothing very spectacular here either. It’s a pretty decent unit.
REPORT ANALYSIS AND FINAL THOUGHTS
All and all, we are fairly pleased with the DeepCool DQ1250. It seems to deliver on all of its promises, and offers fairly solid build quality. It passed JohnnyGuru’s rigorous testing with flying colors, and received great marks.
That being said, there are things we think DeepCool could have done better. Firstly, the hardwired cables could definitely stand to be a bit longer, and while they’re at it, they should also match the included modular cables. We would have loved to see all black ribbon-type cables, or at the very least all black cables in general, as serious builders will not like like the color-clashing “rainbow spaghetti” that is the 20+4-pin connector.
Another thing we would change, as we stated earlier is the fan, while there’s nothing wrong with the included one, there’s nothing special about it either. DeepCool has made a name for itself making some of the best, and highest quality fans, and we’d have loved to see them parlay that into their PSUs. It would definitely give them something to stand out of the crowd.
These are small issues, and the DeepCool DQ1250 is overall a pretty fantastic power supply. At $249 it is a bit pricey, but not out of line with the competition. However, it is unfortunate that it is currently unavailable for purchase anywhere online, and we hope to see this rectified soon. Despite a few shortcomings, it is definitely worth considering, if you can find it. While we don’t have a platinum award, we have no issue giving the DeepCool Quanta DQ1250 our Technology X Gold Seal!
